Physical Symptoms:
| Anxiety is more than just a feeling. As a product of the body’s fight-or-flight response, anxiety involves a wide range of physical symptoms. Because of the numerous physical symptoms, anxiety sufferers often mistake their disorder for a medical illness. They may visit many doctors and make numerous trips to the hospital before their anxiety disorder is discovered. |
I have had GAD for several years now, 10 to be exact. My first panic attack was in December of 2003! It is a bitch to learn to live with, and it has not been easy. I have WAY more good days than panic attack days now and for that I am very thankful. But it did not just happen on its own, it has not been easy, and it is something I have learned to live with the best I can. On days that I have trouble using my hands, it is still terribly embarrassing when people look at them shaking because it is something I try to hide. I have learned that peace and tranquility are essential for managing my anxiety and I have learned to use what works for me as effectively as possible.
I am me, nothing less and nothing more. I do the best I can. I have learned a lot about being more understanding towards others and judging less because EVERYONE has their own battles they are facing and just because you cannot see them, it does not mean they are not real!
